Those of you who listen to our podcast would know that our team live in Broome, a remote tourist destination in Australia. After visiting the city a few times, I can tell you that theres a huge difference between the city and Broome.
A magnificent Broome beach sunset 🌅
Firstly, an obvious difference, in the city there are multiple shopping malls, and more than one of each shop per city (e.g multiple Kmarts in Perth). In Broome we have one mall, one shopping street/area and not too much more than that. Also we wouldn’t dream of having more than one of one shop, there’s no space 😂.
Also, it only takes us a few minutes to drive to each place, the longest of drives being 10-20 minutes. This is because of a combination of factors including lack of traffic and also how close everything is. 🚘🚘🚘
And finally, in a remote place, when you go to a public space like a shop, the chances are you will see someone you know. Lots of people in Broome know and recognise each other out and about. In the city you can see someone out and about and possibly never see them again! Crazy 🤯.
🚨Bonus note🚨
We barely use public transport. This is because it would be unconventional to have a tram or train in such a small place, and we have no river for a ferry. We also have no Uber and Taxis are super expensive. But, come to think of it, we really should have more buses 🚌.
Thanks for tuning in 🙏
